Last month 11-year-old Patti Zhou became the youngest competitor in Dew Tour history, finishing 2nd in the halfpipe event at Copper Mountain. Beijing-born but Colorado-based, Zhou’s been riding a snowboard since she was 2.
Yesterday, out of the blue, Zhou posted a reel on Instagram from the Waco wavepool in Texas, and we can’t stop watching. From stylish straight airs, to smooth snaps and even big full rotations, Zhou is as talented on a surfboard as she is in the snow, and that’s saying a lot. “My friends want to see my surfing,” a way-too-humble Zhou writes in her caption. “This is my 10 years old surfing, let’s get more waves.”

“Favorite surfer,” says Yadin Nicol.
“Insane,” adds Nora Vasconcellos.
“Just jump on the surf tour now! Wow,” writes Alex Gray.
In the clip below, which shows Zhou practicing for the Dew Tour while also ripping on a skateboard ramp, she says: “Skateboarding did play an important role in my progression, and I love skateboarding. But now that the snowboarding level is higher and heavier, and the progression is going faster, if I get on the right track I don’t want to stop, and I also need to squeeze out some time for studying.”
So, when exactly did Zhou find the time to get this good at surfing?
