Many miles off the coast of Ireland exists a secret big-wave bombie that’s been likened to the North Atlantic version of Cortes Bank. Judging by the recently documented session below, filmed by Tim Bonython, the comparison seems more than appropriate. According to Bonython, the undisclosed offshore monstrosity has never been documented before, and the session he was able to witness was one for the history books.
“One of the more exciting swell chases is when you gamble on going to a spot that has never been documented and you score,” write Bonython. “The lads in Ireland know that on the right day when the swell is going to be BIG and with no wind this place has all the chances of [being] very special. And that is exactly what happens. The Cortes Bank of Ireland on this historic day we got all more than we expected.”
