As previously reported (here and here), Snapper Rocks was on a heater recently.
But along with the run of waves, came throngs of surfers to the lineup at Snapper. It was borderline chaos with the notoriously crowded spot being infiltrated with hordes of surfers looking to get their slice of the pie. And when you’ve got that many surfers, riding that many waves in one place, there’s gonna be some good wipeouts to come from it.
A classic wipeout reel in pumping waves never gets old. Paired with the punk rock music, it’s reminiscent of the VHS surf videos of late ‘90s, early ‘00s yore. (Especially those from …lost.)
The comments section loved it, too:
“I’m pretty sure I tasted a bit of saltwater, sand and maybe a bit of fiberglass with those epic clips.”
“Going over the falls and punk rock = perfection!!! lovin this vid!!!!!”
“Crazy! Brought a big smile to my face, good video.”
“Gotta pay to play baby”
Pretty soon, however, there’s gonna be some quality surfing coming to Snapper Rocks. With the recent Mid-Season Cut on the Championship Tour, the Challenger Series is gearing up with the first event, The Boost Mobile Gold Coast Pro. And big names, who recently lost their CT spots, will likely be making an appearance. Names like Courtney Conlogue, Kolohe Andino, Johanne Defay, Zeke Lau, and potentially even Kelly Slater.
They’ll be tossed in the mix at Snapper with all the hungry newcomers, vying for positions on the CT, when the event window kicks off on May 6th; stay tuned for that.
