The latest vlog from Jacob “Zeke” Szekely opens with this:
“July 19th, 2020: Surfing’s first ever finger flip was landed in a wave pool in Texas by Jacob ‘Zeke’ Szekely.” And then, “One year later on August 14th, 2021: Surfing’s first ever finger flip was landed in Mexico in the ocean by Kevin ‘Baja Koala’ Meza.”
And now, the two aerial innovators finally got together for a “Dual in the Pool” – aka an absolute airshow of epic proportions at Waco Surf – which you can watch below.
Superman airs, fingerflips, shuv-its…you name it. These guys are throwing them down.
But after one finger flip attempt, Meza takes a fin to the head. It’s not a super serious wound, but the blood is gushing. Nothing a Band-Aid and a couple beers couldn’t fix.
“Pay to play,” Meza says.
“That’s what happens when you do finger flips, dude,” adds Zeke. “Don’t try this at home, kids.”
Before the minor injury, Zeke and the Baja Koala were going nuts in the pool.
Comments on the video included:
“I never thought I’d see the day where surfers are capable of using their boards like skateboarders do. Just completely unbelievable.”
“Zeke is an animal out there. Are you serious? The tricks he pulls off is unbelievable and don’t even seem possible but yet here he is surfer a wavepool like he’s skating a half pipe lmao. Dude you are changing the way the next generation of surfers will make it a normal thing and take it to crazy new heights.”
“Another banger…”
