Heading into the EDP Ericeira Pro, both Deivid Silva and Alyssa Spencer were outside the CT qualification cut line.
Not anymore.
Both goofys absolutely smashed it on finals day in Portugal, winning convincingly with 8s and 9s all day and catapulting themselves up the rankings. Silva jumped 20 spots to 5th, and Spencer 3 spots into 4th. Heading into the last stop in Saquarema, Silva is (likely) safe, while Spencer still has work to do. A quarter final or better should see her on the CT for next year, after missing the cut by one measly spot at the end of 2022.
With one event left, on the mens side it appears that alongside Silva, we’ll also see Cole Houshmand (confirmed), Jacob Willcox (confirmed), Frederico Morais, Jake Marshall, Crosby Colapinto, and Imaikalani Devault on tour next year. Three spots are still up for grabs, with not many points separating Eli Hanneman in 8th and Morgan Cibilic in 14th.
For the women, only Sally Fitzgibbons is confirmed, with India Robinson (likely) safe, and Sawyer Lindblad, Spencer, and Isabella Nichols hanging on for dear life.
Click play above for all the highlights from finals day in Portugal, and tune into the WSL starting October 14 to watch the final CS stop of the season in Saquarema to see who’s in and who’s out for next years CT.
Dreams will be made, and dashed.
