Some of the world’s best surfers have been getting their asses kicked at Pipeline lately.
It began almost two weeks ago when the first big swell of the season hit the North Shore on a “big Wednesday,” naturally. John John and Nathan Florence scored “huge and unruly” Pipe while lifeguards saved over 15 people from big wave doom.
Koa Rothman also released footage of the usual North Shore ripper crew enduring “chaos and carnage” at Pipeline and today we’ve got Jamie O’Brien’s latest take on the beatings.
O’Brien posted his latest vlog above yesterday and captioned it:
“A fun episode of surfing, massive Pipeline with John John Florence and friends nothing like an early season swell to start off the season!
The vlog is titled: “Every Surfer’s Worse Nightmare at Pipeline.”
Okay, that gets the point across.
The video starts with O’Brien checking Pipe from his porch right at Pipe saying, “These second reef wash-through sets are just gonna make you pay.”
He says “It’s not the all-time day, but there might be some all-time moments.”
But it actually ends up looking pretty damn good. O’Brien, and other local surfers like Makana Pang, John John Florence, Lucas Godfrey, and Tiger Doerner get back-to-back barrels.
After getting pushed inside O’Brien says: “Pipeline’s straight up firing.”
Viewers were stoked about the vlog. See for yourself in the comments below:
“Scary smoked Monday with Jamie Wild beating, Idol boards, and Pipe crash helmet test. True content.”
“To the Editor! Congrats on getting all that incredible footage cut so wonderfully in one night! You guys are a great team!”
“Jamie is a pipe goat, he rides Costco boards there, what a maniac badass.”
