Sometimes, actually a lot of the time, Nazaré doesn’t even seem real.
The waves are so cartoonishly massive, shaped in impossible teepees, and breaking so violently, that it feels like fiction. And yet, it’s no nightmare; it’s reality.
Take, for example, this next clip.
The Atlantic Ocean swell season is open for business, and this next clip shows an unidentified surfer, towing into a wave that makes them look like a tiny speck on a gargantuan mountain. Like an ant on the Pyramids of Giza. A climber on Mount Everest.
It comes from a recent run of swell to kick off the season, which was documented as a raw session from Above Creators; they captioned:
“Nazaré Unleashed! Dive into the heart of today’s mind-bending session with the raw, unfiltered footage capturing the sheer intensity of the legendary waves at Nazaré. 🤯 The lineup was a frenzy of paddlers and tow surfers, creating a visual feast of wave-riding mayhem. 🚁 Hold your breath as we navigate through the chaos to bring you the most epic and unscripted moments of the day!
“Witness the pulse-pounding rides, the close calls, and the sheer thrill of conquering the mighty waves of Nazaré. As the swell begins to ebb, the anticipation builds for what promises to be ‘human size’ perfection in the days to come.
