Australian surf cinematographer Tim Bonython is fascinated with the world’s most monstrous waves.
He constantly chases swells between the most notorious big wave spots like Nazaré, Shipstern Bluff, Ireland’s Mullaghmore, and other secret spots.
In December, he released footage of firing surf in Morocco with an all-star lineup of big wave surfers. In his latest release below, Bonython returns to Morocco with the “best of the big wave surfers” surfing what “could be the biggest wave on the planet.”
Bonython opens the video above by saying:
“This one is the ultimate. This doesn’t get any better than this kind of adventure we’re about to go on.”
He captioned it:
“This is one of the greatest big wave adventures I have been on. Invited down by highly respected Moroccan big wave surfer Jerome Sahyoun, this trip was a once in a lifetime event.
“With the biggest swell of the winter igniting up in the Atlantic, Jerome invited the best big wave surfers all stationed at Nazare to take part in this incredible expedition. This wave on a given day can literally be the biggest wave on the planet.
“The logistic’s alone make it almost impossible to make surfing this place next to impossible. 2 hours from the closest port with a flotilla of jet-skis and surfers including Garrett McNamara, Billy Kemper, Lucas Chumbo, Andrew Cotton, Axi Munianin, Dylan Longbottom with Dylans daughter Summa & Jerome’s son Liam – this adventure one I’ll never forget.
“What we wanted is exactly what we ordered. Massive Morocco! Enjoy…”
