Bells Beach holds a storied, near mythical place in surf history.
Particularly so, because of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, often considered the longest-running professional surf contest, and the list of legends who have won the event.
And now, it looks like Bells ain’t going anywhere; at least for a few years.
In an announcement from the World Surf League, a deal was struck with Victoria, Australia officials, ensuring Championship Tour events at Bells Beach through 2024.
“We are pleased to confirm one of the events for the 2025 Championship Tour and beyond, Bells Beach,” said Jessi Miley-Dyer, WSL Chief of Sport. “Bells Beach holds a revered place in the surfing world, embodying the spirit and legacy of the sport. Its inclusion as a multi-year stop on our Tour reflects its iconic status and the profound impact it has had and will continue to have on surfing culture.”
Over the years, as surfing continues to advance – mostly with aerials and other flashy maneuvers requiring a steep, punchy lip – the soft, crumbly wall at Bells Beach hasn’t been the pinnacle venue for progression. And yet, the history speaks louder.

Miley-Dyer continued:
“We are thrilled to continue honoring Bells Beach’s rich history and tradition as we showcase the world’s top surfers on this legendary stage. We plan to share more stops on the 2025 CT schedule throughout this season for our fans and the communities we’ll be visiting. One locked in with more to come!”
As for the 2024 edition of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, only Finals Day remains. Stay tuned for when competition resumes.
