Kelly Slater, 11x time world champion and surfing’s greatest-of-all-time, is selling his North Shore of Oahu, beachfront home. The listing price? A cool $20 million.
The home – described as a “compound” and “estate” per the listing – is located on Papailoa Road, down the Kamehameha Highway from Laniakea, towards Haleiwa.
And Slater, who bought the property a few years back, is looking to make a substantial return on investment with the sale.
Back in 2017, Slater purchased the home for $7.8 million; now, he’s selling it for more than double. According to the Zillow listing, here’s some details:
“Located on the most coveted street on the North Shore of Oahu, this exclusive beachfront estate is the premier offering in Haleiwa, Hawai’i. Set on an oceanfront lot traversing over a half acre, this compound encompasses elegant living while embracing the barefoot luxury lifestyle of the North Shore.
“Stepping into this private sanctuary, soaring ceilings and an expansive open floor plan invite stunning ocean views throughout the interior, epitomizing the Hawaiian ethos of indoor-outdoor living. For those in pursuit of an oasis of a home that encapsulates the essence of island elegance and peace, this private sanctuary stands alone.”
Speaking with The Wall Street Journal, Slater talked about the home’s sentimental factor (he used to crash at a nearby house in his early North Shore days), the primary use of the home (renting it out for $60k a month), and his plans for selling.
“I will be a little picky,” he said. “That’s how I got the house. The guy liked me. He liked that I had history on the street and knew the people that lived there.”

Slater, who is expecting a baby boy with his longtime partner Kalani Miller, recently talked about welcoming the child in Hawaii. Luckily, this isn’t his only home on the North Shore of Oahu; he has another, too, closer to the thick of it near Pipeline.
“I like to be right at Pipeline,” he said. “When the waves look good, I am right out there.”
