“The Right” is a psycho slab that breaks way out in the middle of nowhere in Western Australia.
It’s awe-inspiring in its beauty, but it’s also terrifying. It’s basically a rock shelf surrounded by deep water that folds waves in half. Unlike some other slabs, “The Right” can’t be paddled into. It’s physically impossible to catch a 12-foot open ocean swell without the help of a Ski, so towing in is the only option.

The edit above details a bluebird day from a couple years back, and it features the best session of Ollie Henry’s life. In it, Henry details the day: The emotional ups and downs of chasing huge slabs nearly alone, while also being shark bait in an area notorious for Great Whites.
“My heart was in my throat, and my legs were so shaky that when I was riding into the channel they just gave out,” says Henry about the last wave of his session in the late afternoon. “And I just figured: I just caught the two best waves of my life today and I haven’t fallen, I reckon we’re gonna wrap it up.”
