While surfing, in its natural form, is mostly limited to coastal regions of the United States for obvious reasons, the promise of wave pools is bringing the thrill of riding waves to the middle of America.
The latest project announcement comes from synthetic surfing leader, Wavegarden, and it’s dropping in Houston, Texas. In a release today, Wavegarden has unveiled their partnership with HTX Surf, a coming surf park to H-Town and featuring their patented Cove technology, equipped with a 52-module system capable of pumping out 20 types of waves, varying in size and power.
“From a business perspective, as well as overall customer experience, we are delighted to continue working with Wavegarden,” said John Luff, Senior Partner at Beach Street Developments. “Wavegarden has a proven track record in delivering a world-class surfing experience while maximizing the potential return on investment.”
Additional amenities at HTX Surf will include: a membership club, leisure amenities, a restaurant and bar. No details on when construction will begin, or when the park will be ready were given; however, in a comment on social media, HTX Surf stated: “End of 2027 is current goal.”

Wavegarden is on a roll, currently, in the wave pool realm. On the heels of the Texas announcement, they released their biggest and best pool yet to the world – Beyond the Club: São Paulo. That pool features a renovated Cove system, with updates to the reef, barrel and air waves. Already, Gabriel Medina (a partner in Beyond the Club) has been showing the potential of the new update.
As for Beach Street Developments, HTX Surf isn’t the only project they’ve got in the works. Per the press release and the other projects opening soon: “Atlantic Park in Virginia Beach this summer while also currently constructing and preparing to operate DSRT Surf in Coachella Valley which opens early in 2026.”
