During a family vacation in the Bahamas, 42-year-old Brent Slouch was snorkeling in the turquoise blue Caribbean waters, when out of nowhere, a boat passed overhead, nearly slicing his entire body in half. Miraculously, Slouch survived the freak accident.
A boat carrying three men, cruising at a fast pace close to shore, ran over Slouch. And then, the kept going, even though they looked back, and saw they hit him. The propeller blades struck Slouch in his backside, nearly tearing him in two, some as deep as 12 inches. From there, it was medevacs, surgeries, and more to save his life.
According to doctors, if the boat hit him elsewhere, he wouldn’t be here to tell the tale.
“Number one, don’t get hit by a boat,” Slouch said from his recovery bed. “But if you are going to get hit by a boat, I got hit by a boat in the best possible way. Still horrible. But any other way – like, my head, it would’ve killed me. I could’ve lost a limb, damaged an artery and bled out.”
He spent three weeks in a Florida ICU following the incident, and now is recovering in a rehab center. Already, he’s standing up, defying expectations.
The only problem is – besides the irreparable damage to his body, and the lingering trauma – is that the boaters who hit Slouch have yet to be caught.

But Slouch’s wife is on the case:
“Once the Attorney General in Nassau files charges,” she said, “we will be able to learn their names, and learn if they’re going to move forward with justice for Brent. I’m hopeful that will happen.”
As far as vengeance against those who inflicted his injuries, here’s what Slouch said:
“I could be [angry], but that’s not helpful at all. I wish they would’ve stopped. I’m trying not to dwell on it. Vengeance is not up to me; it’s up to god. If it’s warranted, it’ll happen one way or another.”
