I spent many a high school free period scouring surf content. Videos were great, but finding that photo to serve as a new wallpaper on my phone or computer was a fulfilling quest. I’ve since kicked the habit (I found the one), but anytime a swell of serious magnitude goes down, I can’t help but lurk in the gallery. I highly encourage anyone, regardless of whether you’re in the market, to browse this curation from ace photographer Ryan “Chachi” Craig, who flew from California to Tahiti this week and swam in the channel for two massive Teahpo’o days. You’ve seen the clips from August 5-6. Now revel in the stills.
Side note: How good of a big bro is Kauli Vaast? He spent the day on the ski, towing in his younger sister, Aelan, and brother, Naiki, into the biggest pits of their lives. Gold star for the gold medalist. And he got his waves the next day, don’t worry.
