The Red Bull Magnitude event is a three-month-long contest wherein some of the world’s best big-wave surfers submit the best footage they’ve gathered over the course of the winter season in an attempt to win vying a cool $50K. This year, none other than big-wave world champ Paige Alms scored the top spot (and a massive check) with her performances at Jaws.
Over 25 competitors entered this year’s contest and 68 waves were submitted. The judges scored the surfers based on the quality and difficulty of the waves they surfed, as well as their overall performance. Paige’s submissions were a standout, impressing the judges with her fearless approach to Pe’ahi monstrosities.
Securing 2nd place in the overall performance category was Skylar Lickle, followed by Felicity Palmateer, Bianca Valenti, and Katie McConnell. Lickle was also awarded “Best Ride”, while Izzi Gomez got “Best Tow”, Palmateer got “Breakthrough Performer” and the “People’s Choice” award went to Anne Dos Santos.
