Meet the all-new G Skate, the freshest board on the market crafted by Channel Islands’ head shaper Britt Merrick alongside the Gudauskas brothers. According to Tanner Gudang, the swallow-tailed whip is a fast, skatey speed machine–something perfectly suited for the dog days of a Southern California summer, when the waves could be absolutely firing…..or totally gutless.
“This fast, skatey and responsive swallow-tailed hybrid design was born of a collaboration between Britt Merrick and my brothers and I,” says Tanner. “The goal was to create something with fresh feeling that turned well in good surf but skated with ease through the not-so-good stuff. This 2 plus 1 (twin plus trailer) design has a lot of get up and go speed thanks to its light single to double concave, low entry rocker, wide point forward—and its contemporary shortboard rails provide all the precision and control you could ever want.”
“The g skate also yielded an all-new Merrick / Gudauskas 2 + 1 fin set, the AMT fin set up works very well,” Tanner continues. “For those that prefer traditional thruster set-ups, my favorite 3-fin set will work well in this design—giving a lot of options. The G-Skate serves as a strong utility piece in any quiver where fun and performance are the goal. Ride this board 3” to 6” shorter and the same thickness as your CI Pro.”
