The folks at Red Bull never cease to amaze.
There’s always something bigger, crazier, weirder that they bring to action sports.
Example: an electric hydrofoil surfing adventure through a completely dark, extremely narrow subterranean cave. Impressive? Sure. Kooky? Yeah, a bit.
The hydrofoiler is 2x World Wake Skate Champion (yes, that’s a thing) and Red Bull athlete, Brian Grubb. In addition to the cave adventure, he recently hit the famed Pororoca tidal bore in Brazil, hydrofoil in hand.
As for the cave, it’s 100 feet below the ground and located in Indiana.
Captioning the post, Red Bull wrote:
“he turned a cave into a subway 🚇 @briankgrubb
“Over 100 feet below the surface and demanding a 1.5-mile trek to reach, Bluesprings Cavern in Bedford, Indiana is no small feat.
“With water temps hovering around 50 °F and the cave’s walls boasting max 10 feet, navigating this cavern becomes a true battle against the elements.”
Typically, the Bluesprings Cavern hosts boat tours, in search of the cave’s resident blind fish, spotted salamanders, and bats hanging from the ceilings. Pretty neat.
But that’s not what Red Bull and Grubb were in the cave for…clearly.
For extra context, they added on the video:
“The first-ever underground e-foiling run.
“This 22-mile-long cave is 100ft below the surface, with four miles of navigable river.
“The max width is only 10ft across. Making this an incredible world-first.”
Again, pretty impressive. But also, why? Or perhaps a better question…why not?
