Jack Freestone is a world junior champ, a former CT standout, and is generally regarded as one of the best and most progressive surfers of the last decade.
A few years back, Freestone retired from the CT and started riding Matt Parker’s Album surfboards. Parker is a master of the “alternative” surfboard world, and makes amazing twin fins, quads and asyms, as well as standard thrusters.
So, it makes sense Freestone would dabble with Parkers alternative designs. But, what we didn’t expect, is that Freestone’s surfing would somehow get even more impressive.
In recent years, Freestone’s been riding a ton of twins and quads, and he’s never looked better. His above-the-lip surfing is as high octane as it’s ever been, yet his style, speed control, rail work and form have only improved.
And Freestone isn’t the only example.
We’ve also seen Josh Kerr and Victor Bernardo improve in similar ways after jumping on Parker’s alternative designs.
So, can getting off a thruster actually help your surfing?
Click play to watch Freestone make yet another case for the twin and quad on Salina Cruz’s playful points.
It’ll definitely make you think.
