Teahupoo local, Eimeo Czermak, has experienced his fair share of wipeouts (and incredible, successfully-ridden tubes) at the End of the Road.
But apparently, one wipeout takes the cake for the young regular-footer. Fellow Chopes charger, Nathan Florence, recently posted a video of Eimeo getting chewed up and swallowed on a mutant wave at his homebreak of Teahupoo, to which Eimeo replied: “Well, this was the worst beating of my life.”
The video shows Eimeo getting towed in, casually setting his line, and standing tall in a gargantuan tube. But then, he catches a rail. He gets bucked over the handlebars, then subsequently over the falls on the freakishly large wave.
From there, the comments went off:
“Omg,” wrote Championship Tour wunderkind, Jack Robinson.
“Interstellar,” posted North Shore freesurfer, Lucas Godfrey.
“How did he live? Seriously?” asked surfing stalwart, Chris Mauro.
“That was so crazy. What the hell!” chirped Hawaiian surf star, Kiron Jabour.
Of course, as previously mentioned, Eimeo isn’t typically known for his wipeouts at Teahupoo. He’s mostly recognized for throwing himself over impossible ledges, pulling into the tube, and getting spat out with glory into the channel. And he’s no one-trick pony either; the kid’s got his above-the-lip game on lock, too.
For more of that, look no further than his most recent edit, entitled MEKO TIME:
“Some waves since turning 19 from TAHITI before heading to Hawaii,” Eimeo captioned the video. “Decided to call this video MEKO TIME since that’s what my friends call me back home (Tahiti). Spent weeks editing this for you guys. Hope you will enjoy it and lmk in the comments what you think.”
What do we think? Not bad, Meko. Not bad at all.
