Big wave surfer Nic Von Rupp rides some of the world’s biggest and gnarliest waves.
While he’s one of the faces most commonly associated with Nazare, Von Rupp seems to have an appreciation for travel too.
Earlier this year, Von Rupp launched the second season of his surf-slash-travel series, “Portugal Back to Back,”and with it, he’s taken viewers to the regions of Aveiro, Oeste, Peniche, the Azores, and Algarve.
In his latest vlog above, Von Rupp explores his home town of Lisbon with travel giant Expedia. He takes viewers around town and shares some places meaningful to him.
The edit above is captioned:
“When it comes to big waves, beautiful beaches and energetic city life, Lisbon has it all.
“Big wave surfer Nic von Rupp shows Expedia his favourite beach, restaurant, and city spots, in both Lisbon and Sintra.”
Touring Lisbon through Von Rupp’s eyes begins at one of his favorite Lisbon beaches, Praia da Adraga in Sintra. Then it’s a stop at a local favorite for “the best octopus salad in the area.”
The adventure continues to a “picturesque” clifftop town and a post-surf night out on the town, complete with sampling canned sardines, and a tram ride.
According to the caption:
“It’s the perfect itinerary crammed with local insights to save for your next trip.”
During the flick, Von Rupp shares thoughts about his home:
“Lisbon is the city of waves. It’s surrounded by water and nature, movement. That energy shapes who I am.”
