Nathan Florence is living the dream.
That is, if your dreams are in fact nightmares, featuring monstrous slabs intent on swallowing surfers whole. If that’s your bag, then sure, Nate’s living the dream – traveling around the world, cheating death, on a self-described “Slab Tour.”
And this latest one’s a certified mutant:
“Melted,” Nate simply put in the caption.
For the uninitiated, a slab is a wave that comes from deep water, then hits a shallow bank, and pukes its guts out over nearly dry reef. They’re tricky, risky, extremely dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing, and highly entertaining to watch.
Hence why we’ve been so captivated by Nate’s Slab Tour.
First, there was the undisclosed slab that Nate slammed the reef at. Then, he went to Australia and hit a slab not far from the Sydney airport. After that, he headed to West Oz for some action at The Box and another undisclosed beast of a slab. And most recently, he was in Tahiti for the potentially overhyped, yet still pretty epic Teahupo’o swell.
Although it’s not mentioned, this appears to be the same slab (and wave) that we previously reported on. This time, though, it’s the drone view.
Whatever’s next on the Nate Florence Slab Tour™, we’re totally onboard. At least, we’ll be watching from the safety of our screens. Actually surfing these waves? No thanks.
