The biggest film in Hollywood at the moment – by the numbers, at least; raking in $155 million domestically on opening weekend at the box office – is Barbie.
It follows a live action version of the children’s doll, played by Margot Robbie, as she leaves her fairytale land and enters the real world. And she’s accompanied by her washboard abs, perfectly quaffed hair companion, Ken, played by Ryan Gosling.
And apparently, Gosling has a surfboard in the film; and someone wants to sell it.
In a Craigslist post with the board for sale, the seller wrote:
“The Ken Surfboard from the Barbie Movie “The Kenrgy” – $1,000,000 (Hollywood)”
Then, in the caption, more information:
“I have in my possession The Ken Surfboard from the Barbie motion picture
“I will sell to the highest bidder by midnight of the end of July
“FCFS. First Come First Surf
“I worked in the props department and can verify authentication in person”
No word on any bids yet matching the asking price of a cool one million dollars for this piece of Hollywood memorabilia.
Surfboards are sold quite often on Craigslist, rare and valuable ones, too. But not like this board, and not for this asking price.
The listing was also posted to popular surf comedy Instagram account, Kook of the Day, where the comments (rife with mockery, of course) poured in:
“How many liters tho?”
“If it’s plastic that’s hilarious”
“You’ll be the coolest kook in the lineup”
“Throw in a leash?”
“Does it come with exclusive surf rights in front of Malibu Barbie’s Dream House?”
So, a million bucks…any takers?
