The secret lives of sharks are fascinating.
We’ve been treated to an abundance of shark footage ranging from the good, the bad, to the downright ugly.
The latest shark episode of reality shark TV comes from The Malibu Artist, a California-based nature videographer. The footage is from a small island off the coast of Brazil and while it’s awesome, it turns out the island also has epic surf.
The Malibu Artist captioned the video above:
“In this video, I share additional footage I’ve not shown before of the first aerial documentation on record of tiger sharks attempting predation on sea turtles.
“As a result, continued monitoring of this bay has ensued by local scientists, and the beach is now closed to human water activities. This is why I’m on my way back to this small island. Stay tuned for more!”
The short video shows a game of cat and mouse between, ugh, tiger shark and sea turtle on the island of Fernando de Noronha over 200 miles off the coast of Brazil. Like any good drama, you’ll be surprised how it ends.
But there’s more.
According to Nomad Surfers, is worth throwing on the surf trip bucket list:
“The surf spots in Fernando de Noronha are considered to be the best in the country due to the fact that the volcanic island doesn’t have any continental shelf to reduce the power of the swells.
“The main source of waves come from the North Atlantic lows and the best time to surf in Fernando de Noronha is from November to February when the waves rarely drop below 3ft.
“The best surfing area is on the eastern coast of the main island and the best surf spot is Cacimba do Padre that has a powerful beach break with hollow barrels both for the left and the right. If you visit Brazil you should highly consider making a stop at Fernando de Noronha and find out why this is considered as one of the most beautiful places in the world.”
