For beginner surfers, sometimes the trouble starts even before hitting the water.
Wetsuits. Although there’s been massive improvements in wetsuit technology over the years – from function to fashion – slipping on a neoprene fullsuit is still somewhat of a difficult task…especially if you’re new to the skin-tight costume. But there’s a nifty trick out there, which most seasoned surfers will already know, to assist in putting on a wetsuit without breaking into a claustrophobic sweat.

TikToker Bri Surfs shared the trick in a recent video, captioning:
“Little hack for those of you who struggle to put on their wetsuits everyday (I usually don’t do anything special) but this is a great alternative to socks and plastic bags!”
As she mentioned, the traditional trick is to use a plastic bag or a sock to slip on the legs and arms of a fullsuit. But instead, Bri went for a more eco-friendly option: a reusable bag. Not a bad idea, given the negative environmental impact plastic bags have, and the fact that many cities and counties are banning them across the country.
But this isn’t no ordinary reusable bag. As Bri mentions in the comments, the bag comes from WetChute, a brand dedicated to an eco-friendly solution to wetsuit struggles.
Per the company’s website, their mission is this:
“WetChute was born out of necessity by a couple of parents who were seeking a solution to an enduring problem. As surfers we knew that we wanted to teach our kids to surf but we quickly learned that getting your kids wetsuits on along with your own, was a struggle that took the fun out of surfing.
“We started using plastic bags to help put our wetsuits on easier, but we knew that we could do better and that is how the WetChute came to life. We got a hold of old parachutes and designed the perfect bag to be used over your hands and feet to glide right into your wetsuit. We strive to reduce landfill waste by creating wetsuit bags from recycled parachutes and eliminating the need for single use plastic bags.”
Helping the environment and helping surfers. Pretty cool.
