Just last week, a 36-year-old Florida surfer was attacked by a shark off Pepper Park Beach in Fort Pierce.
According to the interview above, the attack left him with a deep wound on his right foot and ankle, which required emergency medical attention. Picarelli described the incident as a “surreal” experience and said that he felt like he was “in a washing machine” during the attack. Despite the injuries, he remained calm and was able to paddle back to shore with the help of other surfers who were nearby.
As most East Coast surfers know, shark attacks in Florida are not uncommon, and the state has the highest number of shark attacks in the United States. This marks the third Florida hit this year.
