The wavepool revolution is nigh.
Like the first few men running with axes in hand and their willies swaying about, as seen in Braveheart (1995), the full army of synthetic surf spots is soon to charge.
And the Palm Springs Surf Club will be a certified killer.
The surf world has been hearing about, and seeing footage of, the Palm Springs Surf Club (PSSC) for quite some time – years even. But finally, it appears that the facility is going to be open to the general public, and not just Kalani Robb.
Now, we’ve got an official first look and dates on when it’s opening.
So, Jamie O’Brien went out to sample it.
“This is some of the best wavepool tech out there,” JOB said.
What kind of tech is it, you ask?
SurfLoch from Tom Lochtefeld. Per their website:
“SurfLoch is a wave technology pioneer that specializes in replicating authentic ocean surfing waves within controllable man-made environments to share the pure enjoyment of surfing with anyone, anytime, anywhere.”
Vague.
And per a press release of this new opening date, investor Tim O’Byrne said:
“We’re thrilled to bring this unique desert surf experience to life. Whether you’re an avid surfer, a beginner, or someone who simply loves to watch this spectacular sport, The Palm Springs Surf Club has something for everyone. Surfing is a mesmerizing sport to watch, and at PSSC, the experience of observing surfers ride world-class waves against the stunning backdrop of the Palm Springs Mountains is unparalleled. We’ve invested over $80 million to turn this park into a top-tier entertainment destination.”
Also vague.
Guess you just gotta go and check it out for yourself. For more about Palm Springs Surf Club, which is slated to open January 1st, 2024, head here.
