Pipeline has been on fire this season.
From perfect barrels to terrifying wipeouts, Pipe’s been living up to its reputation as surfing’s “proving grounds” delivering the good, the bad, and the ugly.
In the last few days, we’ve seen an abundance of footage from Pipeline. In the video below, the North Shore’s Mason Ho gets his piece of perfect Pipe.
Ho & Pringle Productions captioned the edit above:
“Here are just a few moments from the morning of January 23 2024 at Banzai Pipeline.”
Ho—the son of Michael, nephew of the late Pipeline legend Derek, and brother of Coco—is a natural when it comes to Pipe. He likes “the biggest, biggest, biggest, biggest wave that could possibly hit that reef.”
The video’s almost eight minutes of Ho scoring perfect barrels with bonus bloopers at the beginning.
Viewers were impressed and a little baffled by the wipeouts and drop-ins at the beginning. Check out a few comments below:
“Bunch of people making very questionable decisions out there…”
“Good Morning Mason Ho “The Legend” this Vlog is Straight up Carnage and I’m still SMFH I’m amazed nobody was seriously injured during this Session”
And then:
“Wolfpack needs to come back, hectic!”
Looks like the chaos at the beginning of the video is what former Pipeline regulator Rico Jimenez meant when he recently said:
“We had no problem slapping some heads and beating some guys up. There was some regulations going on, some regulators in town.
“All of a sudden there was a little bit of order in the chaos in the lineup here at Pipeline. People knew where they belonged. Very rarely did people step out of bounds.
“It was kind of harmonious in a chaotic scene out here. It was kind of a necessary evil. It ain’t like that out here anymore.”
