The Palm Springs Surf Club opened its test facility for R&D a couple of years back. It was a huge success. While the pool they retrofitted with Surf Loch technology was too small for public use, the crew behind PSSC proved beyond a doubt that the wave and concept works. Who doesn’t want to get tubed in electric blue water, with the Palm Springs mountains in the background?
Three years later and they’re finally ready to open the new, improved, and much larger PSSC pool to the public. If all goes well, the grand opening is only a few months away. And that’s where you come in.
According to their website, the PSSC is currently in search of a “Surf Patrol”. Which is, according to them, “akin to that of a Tavarua boatman. If you don’t know what that is, this job may not be for you.”
“We will be the first line of defense in the event of accidents and injuries in the pool,” the posting on the PSSC website continues. “We will also be the team that provides helpful advice on surfing, paddling, knowledge of the waves, and ensuring we give each customer the best shot at having success in their session. This position will be extremely active. We will be in the water surfing, we will be swimming, we will be operating the surf system, we will be helping learners stand up for the first time, all while being good stewards of surf culture and stoke. This job has a lot of fun baked in to it, but it is a job so we will be professionals in every sense of the word.”
There’s lots more to it, but you get the gist. If you live in Southern California, and think this job is for you, click on over to the website and get that application in today.
