After the Surf Ranch Pro controversy, the WSL needed a feel-good hit to move forward.
So, they dropped a video of young, up-and-coming girls shredding the Surf Ranch as part of their ongoing Rising Tides initiative; watch the clip below:
Per the video’s caption:
“Before the Surf Ranch Pro presented by 805 Beer, Rising Tides presented by Pura Vida brought a group of 12-and-under surfers together with Championship Tour stars at Surf Ranch. After meeting Carissa Moore, Tatiana Weston-Webb, and more athletes, the girls got the once-in-a-lifetime chance to surf the wave and the inspiration to pursue their dream of becoming pro surfers.
“Surf Ranch puts progression on full display. Surfing’s most unique arena churns out perfect waves that separate the tour’s most innovative surfers from the rest. This is the first event after the Mid-season Cut, meaning the field has been sharpened and the fight for the WSL Final 5 starts right here, right now.”
A nice break from the drama. Warm and fuzzy feelings. Best field trip ever?
“Being at the Ranch here is just so amazing,” said one of the hyped-up Rising Tides surfers, Ruby Stringfellow. “You just wanna take it all in. Like, wow, am I actually here right now!?”
Good pivot from the WSL’s PR team.
But soon, the drama will (hopefully) return as the Championship Tour resumes with the Surf City Pro El Salvador, kicking off June 9th-18th. Get your popcorn ready.
