Heading into the Challenger Series stop in Portugal, Crosby Colapinto, Eli Hanneman, Kade Matson and Jett Schilling all had a chance to qualify, while Cole Houshmand had already locked his spot up.
With 10 spots total up for grabs, 2% was hoping to grab 50% of the available spots on the 2024 CT, a staggering number.
Unfortunately, things didn’t quite go as planned. Colapinto, Schilling, Hanneman, and Matson all suffered early to early-ish round losses, dampening (but not crushing) dreams. (3 of the 4 did perform under pressure a few weeks later in Brazil, and 2% officially qualified 40% of the new faces on the men’s CT in 2024.)
As we’ve mentioned before, the success of 2% can be directly attributed to the team first mentality the crew brought to the Challenger Series this year, which is on full display in the new edit above. The crew travels as a unit, and nobody leaves when they lose. Griffin even flew over to help coach and support his crew, despite not even being in the contest.
With this sort of energy, we already can’t wait to see team 2% take on the Brazilian Storm on the CT next year.
