Last week we shared a clip of Micah Margieson surfing like a spitting image of his Dad, Brenden. And if you’ve seen any clips of Jackson Dorian lately you know he’s basically a carbon copy of Shane.
Kepa Mendia, on the other hand, breaks from that mold. Where his Dad Pete is a powerful goofyfoot best known for throwing the biggest spray in the state of Florida, Kepa is a sprightly regularfoot, with a nimble style and a propensity for tail blows and full rote airs.
The one trait they both share is a reputation for charging. Kepa has been rushing big waves with his Dad since forever, and now, at 16-years-old, he’s beginning to branch out on trips of his own, like this one to the Mentawais, where he got barreled off his head during a recent swell.
Click play above to watch the younger Mendia make papa Pete proud, even if he’s doing it his own way. Same same… but also totally different.
