We haven’t heard from Maui surfer Clay Marzo for quite a while. Known as one of surfing’s most talented tube riders, especially when it comes to lefts, Marzo’s a master of the frontside layback and a hell of a lot of fun to watch.
Last summer, he was chasing waves with surf buddy Mason Ho all over Indo and France, which spawned a handful of edits that were fun to watch. At the start of this year, he scored an invite to this year’s Da Hui Backdoor Shootout and surfed Pipeline with Team Snapt5.
Lucky for us, he’s breathing life back into his YouTube channel and just dropped a few gems for our viewing pleasure, including the one below.
Until a week ago, it’d been a couple of months since Marzo posted any fresh footage.
In a recent Instagram post, he wrote:
“Finally got my YouTube account going again. feels nice to show some clips that have just been sitting on the computer. More edits coming soon!”
Just today, he posted the video above and captioned it:
“Clay Marzo’s Recent Swell
“Clay doing what he does best.”
The edit’s a quickie at just over three minutes long, but quality over quantity reigns with this one.
In the video, Marzo’s ripping a purple quad on barrel after barrel at a bombing left. Thanks to his seemingly effortless style, he’s intuitively going with the flow of each wave.
It’s nice to see him surfing again. Keep the edits coming.
Now press play above.
