First up was Jaws and Pipeline.
A few days later, Mavericks went XL.
A couple of days after that, San Diego reaped the benefits of the first NW swell of the 2023/2024 winter season, and Jacob “Zeke” Szekely was there to tackle his backyard slabs.
All before Halloween. Yep, El Nino is definitely delivering.
In the edit above, Zeke joins Tosh Tudor and a few other SD locals for a fun morning of tubes at their favorite SD slab. While it’s (obviously) a far cry from Pipe, Jaws and Mavs, it’s still a ledgy and challenging wave that takes a ton of skill to properly navigate.
“What a sesh, are you kidding me?,” says Zeke fresh out of the barrel. “Perfect little slabs, in your backyard, with just a couple of the homies. I was hyped. I had a little bit of a shocker, and it was kind of tricky…there were a lot of stairsteppy ledgy ones and a lot of chandeliers, but that’s slab surfing for you bro. It’s not as easy as Nate Florence makes it seem [laughs].”
