Most of the recent peaceful drone footage of sharks and surfers comes out of Southern California, where great whites cruising around surfers seems to be a daily occurrence.
There was one video recently of a massive tiger shark cruising through the crowded lineup at Queen’s in Waikiki that blew our minds.
But today’s dose of shark and surfer footage comes from Australia’s Bondi Beach. It has all the elements of a nature show–surfers, sharks, and an enormous school of fish.
The clip above by Drone Shark App is captioned:
“Crazy drone footage of sharks returning to Bondi.
“Great to see you, these two grey nurse sharks returning to Bondi Beach yesterday afternoon.
“Norman and Newman just love to hang with humans. I really think they like the look of the surfer’s legs you can see in this clip the sharks love to leave the salmon schools and get underneath the Surfer’s.
“I have not seen any aggressive movement towards humans in five years of filming these beautiful creatures.”
The video above is a really awesome one that’s very unique from the ones coming out of Southern California.
Narrated by the videographer, the footage shows numerous surfers–including groms– paddling around the sharks, catching waves, and paddling back out to wait for more.
There’s also an enormous school of fish that the shark swims through, and it’s absolutely gorgeous.
Seeing the sharks swim through the fish with the surfers nearby is just beautiful. It’s an epic peak into nature and how surfers coexist with it.
So press play above. You’ll be stoked you did.
Viewers enjoyed the video and shared their thoughts below:
“You can only avoid the Taxman for so long. Eventually, they are going to wet their teeth into those guys!”
“Lucky that big shark had the sense to stay away. Bit shocked by it going thru the break so calmly.”
