Nate Florence has a knack for being in the right place at exactly the right time. Some might call him lucky, but the reality is that Florence is willing to jump on a plane to go anywhere at anytime. His boards and body are always ready. And he has a rolodex of relationships at the best waves in the world, so he’s dialed in everywhere from Indo to Africa. Florence puts in the hard yards long before you see the fruits of his labor come to fruition on YouTube.
But wow. The fruits sure look sweet lately.
A week back, when the first solid swell of the season showed up on the charts for Indonesia, he grabbed his brother Ivan and jumped on the next plane. The following day, the pair paddled straight into an empty, Teahupo’o-esque left, trading big blue tubes for 6-hours during a day that Nate called “the score of a lifetime.” If you’ve been following Florence, well, you know that says a lot.
As if that wasn’t enough, the brothers stayed on for the next swell, and a few days later found themselves again trading perfect empty tubes. This time, at a shallow, freight train right. You can watch that day above.
Between John making the final at perfect Chopes in the just completed WSL comp in Tahiti, and Nate and Ivan getting shacked out of their minds in the Ments, which brother got the most tubed these last 10 days?
