It’s one thing to risk your life for a perfect day at Pipeline.
This is not that.
During an out-of-control XXL day at Bronte in Australia, Adrian “Taco” Kovacic decided to grab his biggest board, jump off the rocks and paddle out. Alone.
“It was one of those ugly days,” recalls Taco in the clip above. “It was overcast, the periods were all wrong….but what I like to do in those situations is not wait too long to jump off. If you start waiting too long you get nervous. So a lull came, I saw my opportunity, and I just ran and jumped off…”
The resulting story is wild. It involves a rescue helicopter, 100’s of onlookers, a news crew, a broken board, and ultimately, a surf magazine cover.
So, was it worth it?
While all’s well that ends well, this story could have turned out much, much differently.
