There’s a new wave on the synthetic surf pool block.
Dubbed “The Keg,” the new wave at Waco Surf provides a longer tube section, when compared to the other offerings on the Texas wavepool’s tasting menu.
And East Coast pro surfer Rob Kelly was first to take a bite.
“NEW WAVE ALERT,” Kelly announced. “Fun week at @wacosurf_tx with @perfectswell crew on a successful wave optimization mission ahead of the start of the 2004 season. Peeling waves are feeling dreamy, air sections are firing on all cylinders, and we added a new wave; The Keg to the lineup. Similar wedge slab you know and love but stretched out with a bonus section to maximize tube time. Request a Keg or two from your operators during your next private session. Think you’ll enjoy it. Pumped for another epic 2024 season at @wacosurf_tx!”
So, what’s the wave like?
According to American Wave Machines, the folks behind the wave-making tech at Waco, it’s “a cross between the lengthy Drainer and the boxy Wedge slab, the Keg offers an elongated, grinding tube ride.”
By the looks of it?
It definitely seems longer than the previous tube sections at Waco Surf, almost like there’s two tube sections, in fact. To compare it to a real-world wave? Maybe a small-scale Restaurants? A miniature Macaronis? Whatever the case, it’s a perfect tube. And it’s the only perfect tube breaking deep in the heart of Texas.
That’s somethin’ special.
