Surfboards can be cumbersome.
Whether it’s fitting them in cars, airplanes, or trains – they’re just awkward.
And apparently, add elevators to that list, too.
The clip above shows an unfortunate situation, in which a surfer brings his board into an elevator. However, his leash appears to be dragging behind him on the floor. And then, the elevator doors close. That’s when things went south.
When the elevator moves down the shaft, the leash catches on the floor where the surfer entered. And the board then gets yanked from the surfer’s hands, getting sucked up into the ceiling. Chaos ensues.
As expected, the comments (when reposted by the popular comedic surf account, @KookSlams) went off:
“Maybe the best slam yet!”
“I don’t get how there are people who actually just let the leash drag on the floor. If you don’t tie it along the fins at least just hold the leash in the same hand as the board, how is that hard?”
“Should’ve used a Waimea grade leash.”
“I’ve heard of a leash breaking in big surf, wrapping around a piling or tomb stoning a board, but this is an uncharted land hazard.”
“The leash ruined surfing.”
“That’s why you put your leash on before you get in the elevator brah.”
Moral of the story:
Next time, just take the stairs.
