What are they putting in the water in Portugal?
Oh yeah, waves.
With 1200 miles of coastline (roughly the same as California), Portugal has so many good waves. From wedging nooks to pumping tubes and firing points, there’s a fun wave somewhere in the country every single day.
And Joaquim Chaves knows exactly where to find them.
As was the case with Joao Mendonça last week, before this edit, we’d never heard of Chaves. That’s two new Portuguese rippers on our radar now.
Click play above to watch Chaves tear the bag out of his home country, as well as in Hawaii and Indo. It’s obvious from his comfort level in heavy water waves that Portugal’s power has trained him very well.
He has lots of waves to thank for that.
